Should we sell our scrap gold now?

Gold is at selling historically high rates and now could be an excellent time to cash in your gold holdings.

What choices do we have to sell gold?

You can sell your gold several different ways. There are internet/mail gold buyers. Most are legitimate but? Do you really want to pack up your valuable gold, silver, and platinum and send it off to someone you've never seen?

Pawn shops and Jewelers also buy gold as a sideline, many will try to get you to buy something else or give you a steep discount to real value. Metal Money consistently beasts these buyers by 10-25% or more.

Metal Money meets with you, evaluates your holdings and makes a cash offer. You are free to say no thanks or only sell choice pieces based on the offer.

Gold buying is about volume, the more gold I can buy at one time, the more I can pay everyone.

Will gold go higher?

No one knows the answer to that, but it is at very high levels right now and you might be very surprised how much that old, broken , scrap jewellery you have in your dresser is worth.

Who establishes the price of gold?

The price of gold is determined on the open market, but a procedure known as the Gold Fixing  in London, originating in September 1919, provides a daily benchmark figure to the industry. The afternoon fixing appeared in 1968 to fix a price when US markets are open.

How is gold measured?

Like other precious metals, gold is measured by troy weight and by grams. When it is alloyed with other metals the term  karat is used to indicate the amount of gold present, with 24 karats being pure gold and lower ratings proportionally less. The purity of a gold bar can also be expressed as a decimal figure ranging from 0 to 1, known as the millesimal fineness, such as 0.995 being very pure.

How does Metal Money come up with an offer?

First we grade all of your gold as to it's karat. Most jewelry is 10 - 14 karat, however we establish a grade for each individual item you bring us. Then we weigh your gold to the 1/10th of a gram and based on that days spot price we make you an all cash offer on the spot. Nothing could be easier.
